USA en la próxima Bienal de Venecia

The New York Times adelanta cómo será el pabellón norteamericano en la próxima Bienal de Venecia:

"Putting together an exhibition in the Giardini di Castello, the lush garden that is home to the international pavilions for the Venice Biennale, is always a contest of sorts. Too little time, too many complex details, seemingly impossible logistics and the hope of getting recognized by the Biennale committee. Now it appears that the artists representing the United States — the team of Jennifer Allora and Guillermo Calzadilla — will be taking the notion of a competition both literally and metaphorically this summer.

On Thursday the Indianapolis Museum of Art, the American pavilion’s commissioning institution, announced that the artists will partner with USA Gymnastics and USA Track and Field on three performances for the exhibition. The pieces will incorporate elite athletes.

Visitors will see Dan O’Brien, the 1996 Olympic gold medalist in decathlon; the gymnast Chellsie Memmel, a silver medalist at the 2008 Beijing Games; and David Durante, the 2007 United States men’s all-around gymnastics champion".

Y como aquí todos sabemos quién manda en asuntos estéticos, me pregunto dónde va a instalar el señor Borja-Villel el campo de fútbol necesario para que algún genio hispano de buena familia recoja la idea y la eleve al lugar del mayor orgullo patrio... A lo mejor se conforman con exhibir al muy ilustre marqués del Bosque en esa sala siniestra de los sótanos del Reina, pero desde las ideas de Jennifer Allora y Guillermo Calzadilla, sería necesario contar, cuando menos, con Iniesta o, en su defecto, con Casillas y Piqué.

Por fin los americanos, que de arte saben mucho, han comprendido lo que planteó una tal Leni Rieffenstahl en Olympia (1938)...  !Qué cosas!
